Favorite Wines....

As I opened one of my favorite bottles of sparkling wine tonight, I decided to blog about it. I have been working on DazzleCups website and networking all week that I feel a glass of champagne and some strawberries are well deserved. Oh yes.... a very romantic evening with myself sitting on the floor in my office in my pajamas with the computer on my lap and my notes and ideas scattered on the floor next to me. I love that daylight savings time has come and it no longer gets dark early! Can't wait for the summer! I can't wait to share with you all the items that will be on DazzleCups website!!!
So back to wines... the bottle that I decided to drink tonight is Wilsons Creek Winery Almond Champagne.

You can buy this wine in most local Southern California grocery stores but you can also purchase it from their website. The reason why I like this wine so much is because it is very crisp but it also has a very light sweetness to it.

Another one of my favorites is the Sparkling Syrah (Ruby Cuvee) from South Coast Winery.

Announcing the Mother's Day Glass!!!

The modern Mother's Day is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in May, though also in March, as a day to honour mothers and motherhood. In the United States it was nationally recognized as a holiday in 1914 after a campaign by Anna Jarvis. In some countries, it follows the old traditions of Mothering Sunday.
Mothers Day was created to thank and show appreciation to mothers, and to thank them for everything they have done for their children.

Anna Jarvis was born in the tiny town of Webster in Taylor County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis. The family moved to nearby Grafton, West Virginia in her childhood.
On May 12, 1907, two years after her mother's death, she held a memorial to her mother and thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday. She succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914. The International Mother's Day Shrine was established in Grafton to commemorate her accomplishment.[1]
By the 1920s, Anna Jarvis had become soured by the commercialization of the holiday. She incorporated herself as the Mother’s Day International Association, trademarked the phrases "second Sunday in May" and "Mother's Day", and was once arrested for disturbing the peace. She and her sister Ellsinore spent their family inheritance campaigning against the holiday. Both died in poverty. According to her New York Times obituary, Jarvis became embittered because too many people sent their mothers a printed greeting card. As she said,
"A printed card means nothing except that you are too lazy to write to the woman who has done more for you than anyone in the world. And candy! You take a box to Mother—and then eat most of it yourself. A petty sentiment!"
